About Polymer

Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE) is a highly flexible, semi-crystalline thermoplastic with a relatively low density and high ductility. It is known for its excellent processability, impact resistance, and moisture barrier properties. LDPE is commonly used in packaging films, plastic bags, squeeze bottles, and various molded parts requiring softness and transparency.Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE) is a highly flexible, semi-crystalline thermoplastic with a relatively low density and high ductility. It is known for its excellent processability, impact resistance, and moisture barrier properties. LDPE is commonly used in packaging films, plastic bags, squeeze bottles, and various molded parts requiring softness and transparency.

USAGE

• Packaging films: Widely used in stretch wrap, shrink wrap, and food packaging.
• Plastic bags: Used for grocery, garbage, and merchandise bags due to flexibility and strength.
• Squeeze bottles: Ideal for dispensing liquids such as condiments or cleaning agents.
• Agricultural films: Used in greenhouse covers and mulch films for moisture control.
• Wire and cable insulation: Provides electrical insulation and water resistance.

ADVANTAGES

• Excellent flexibility: LDPE is soft and pliable, making it ideal for products that need to bend or stretch without breaking.
• Good impact resistance: The material absorbs shocks well, even at low temperatures.
• Low moisture absorption: LDPE acts as an effective barrier against water and humidity.
• Easy to process: Suitable for extrusion, film blowing, and injection molding with low processing temperatures.
• Transparency: Thin films of LDPE offer good optical clarity for packaging and labeling.

WEAKNESSES

• Low temperature resistance: LDPE softens at temperatures above ~80 °C, limiting its use in high
• heat environments.
• Poor UV resistance: Requires stabilizers for prolonged outdoor exposure.
• Lower mechanical strength: Compared to HDPE, LDPE has lower tensile strength and stiffness.
• Difficult to bond: Like other polyolefins, LDPE has low surface energy and requires surface treatment for adhesion.
